I prefer to think of my work as combining a classical aesthetic
with a modern point of view.
I seek to produce layered work by fusing the roles of anthropologist, futurist, strategist, and designer. As with all my work, I invite the audience to see the familiar through fresh eyes.
I love fashion as architecture, movies as reference, and books as companions.

I am a Cuban-born artist raised in Miami and currently based in New York City.
A constant in my career has been an admiration for the work of the first part of the 20th century. Perhaps due to living in Miami with the Art Deco hotels,
I was drawn to the sleek lines and bold shapes of that period. Starting out,
my heroes were Brancusi, Arp, Gris, Dupas, and Erte.

Early in my career, I was granted wonderful opportunities.
The first came in my senior year at Parsons, when I was hired to create a
cover for the relaunch of Vanity Fair. Sadly, it never made it to print,
but I was thrilled to have been given that opportunity so early. That same year,
I was published in Vogue and GQ, I also created a shopping bag for Bloomingdale's (now in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt).
Right after, I scored my first illustration representative,
The Pushpin Group. It was a marvelous time.

In the years since, I have created work for major institutions, publishers,
design houses, recording companies, newsmakers, and universities. I have illustrated and designed over 100 postage stamps for the United Nations and the United States Post. These have been used and collected around the world. This year, my illustrations appeared on the cancel pages and as security feature pages of the United Nations’ Visa, Laissez-Passer.

I received a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design in New York and have been honored with awards from the American Institute of Graphic Art, the Art Directors Club of Los Angeles and New York, Print Magazine, Communication Arts, American Illustration, American Photography
and the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.
